Men’s Shelter of Charlotte…

Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

Giving back is so important to myself and everyone on the staff at the Charlotte Knights. And, being in that position is truly a blessing.

On Friday, January 27, I, along with six other Charlotte Knights front office members were in that great position, as we volunteered our time for a great cause. And, when we left, we were all so pleased to know that we helped make a difference.

The seven of us made the drive to the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte in hopes of being able to lend a “helping hand”. Thanks to Knights Community Relations Director Lindsey Roycraft, and so many great people at the Men’s Shelter, we had the opportunity to prepare and serve food to well over 200 patrons.

It was so rewarding to see the smiles on so many faces. It was great to hear so many say “thank you”, and it was great to shake so many hands.

The Knights partner with the Men’s Shelter on a monthly basis. Front Office members and even Knights players are frequently out and about in the community. It certainly wasn’t the first time we have gone to the Shelter, and it certainly won’t be the last.

The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte is dedicated to providing safe emergency shelter while working to end homelessness for each man. The shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offer shelter to 500 men a night. The shelter focuses on prevention and outreach, basic needs, supportive services, and continuing care.
