Rienzo Impresses, Sanchez Has Three-Hit Game
On Thursday, Knights SS Carlos Sanchez had his first multi-hit game of the 2012 AFL season. The 20-year-old slick-fielding shortstop went 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Sanchez, who also has very good speed, swiped two bases in the game as well. It was a very positive outing for the young defensive whiz.
On Friday, October 12, Andre Rienzo made his 2012 Arizona Fall League debut. It was a good one.
Rienzo started for the undefeated (3-0) Salt River Rafters and threw three shutout innings. The Brazilian native alowed just two hits, two walks and struck out five batters. It was a very positive start for the young right-hander, who ended the 2012 season with the Charlotte Knights.
Sanchez went 0-4 on Friday. He is currently hitting .364 with a league-high two stolen bases.
Trayce Thompson has appeared in just two games (October 9-10) and is tied for the league-high in walks with four.
Salt River is currently 3-1 on the season after losing Friday’s game 4-0 to Scottsdale. The River Rafters are made up of prospects from the White Sox, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Rockies, and Nationals system.
