2015 Triple-A All-Star Game – Trayce Thompson

The 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game from Omaha, Nebraska is here! 3328

The Charlotte Knights have four representatives, including outfielder Trayce Thompson, who will start the game in center field and bat seventh — one slot after his teammate Matt Davidson, who is the DH and is batting sixth. RHP Erik Johnson gets the start on the mound for the IL Team, and LHP Zach Phillips will be out of the club’s bullpen.

Thompson enters the All-Star break with a .268 batting average with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs. He is among the IL leaders in a number of categories. He is first in games played (92), second in runs scored (50), second in at-bats (343), third in extra-base hits (35), and fourth in total bases (153).

The 2015 campaign is Thompson’s first full season at the Triple-A level and he has succeeded. Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the second round of the 2009 draft, Thompson has hit 99 home runs over seven minor league seasons and is playing well with the Knights, who concluded the first half of the season in first place in the IL South Division.

I took a little time after BP to talk to Trayce before tonight’s All-Star Game. Check it out!
